Cylinder Vespa ET3 125: THE NEW LEGEND Malossi is proud to present to its public the total rebirth of an authentic legend, one of the most long-lived and successful projects ever associated with our brand: the new and incredible cylinder for Vespa ET3 125. This time totally in aluminium. The story of this thermic unit began in 1982, when, for the first time in a cast iron cylinder with this segment, an oring was used as a seal between head and cylinder, a refined solution that still represents the state of the art today. Malossi has taken a blank sheet of paper to rewrite its project, conceiving it from the roots, innovating and presenting to its public a cylinder that rightfully enters the glorious family of MHR thermic units. Aluminium has taken the place of cast iron and the reed valve seat has been completely redesigned, an authentic revolution that resolved the shortcomings of the original Vespa intake as far back as 1982, and now equipped with a crossbar to guarantee greater stability to the piston ring. The displacement rises to 130 cubic centimetres, while the six transfers are the fruit of know-how and technology acquired over decades of competition in the scooter world and applied for the first time in history to a Vespa cylinder capable of reaching extremely high power and revs of up to 11,000 rpm. The exhaust system has also been totally redesigned and now features a booster layout, a racing solution that guarantees a large expulsion surface area for combustion gases, reducing piston ring fatigue. The Malossi philosophy has always been to provide a complete and powerful plug and play. Therefore, the total re-edition of the reed valve manifold-to-cylinder assembly specifically for this thermal unit (code = 2016319 - only for VESPA ET3 PRIMAVERA) could not be missing. Massive studies and simulations on fluid dynamics carried out with futuristic software have made it possible to perfectly join the manifolds, obtaining an assembly that is practically completely straight, capable of guaranteeing the best possible passage from the carburettor to the intake, all while remaining perfectly inside the body of the Vespa. Also new is the piston, made specifically for this cylinder, which is now super-light, single-bore and extremely high-performance. THESE COMPONENTS ARE INTENDED FOR RACING-SPORT USE ONLY TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS ALUMINIUM CYLINDER Cylinders obtained by gravity casting in specific steel shells. Material: primary aluminium alloy with high silicon content, hardened and stabilised. Machining: on high-precision CNC machine tools. Barrel with silicon carbide coating in a galvanic nickel matrix and cross polishing with diamond passages to very tight tolerances. Recalculated and enlarged heat exchange surfaces. Exhaust and transfer ducts designed and tested for maximum thermodynamic efficiency. Dimensional shape and roughness checks according to Malossi standards. Piston-cylinder coupling selected by 0.005 mm. MHR Usage: Sport/Racing Power range: 18-25hp @11.000rpm Compatible tuning level: Racing exhaust, carburettor 25-30mm Ø Inner and outer crankcase fittings.
